As the Moon Drops into the Well of Forgetfulness
by Doré
As with many peoples, I've always felt the significance of
moon phases--counting the time from one full moon to the next.
Then, too often, the months speed by and have slipped away.
But perhaps this is about more than one moon (as I've suggested in
an older work: Moons of Mars.). The well is wide and dark--but not deep. It
may hold a reflection of the night's glow, or absorb the energies that
linger beyond the daytime.
A red grid covers the scene, completing the drama with
quietude.
