On a dark red background, slivers of mirror are positioned as if a
burst of sunshine-- held by a metal ring to accentuate this impression.
In the center, an old garden sprinkler poses with authority to
announce "beginning.....a new day" (or whatever?).
On the left, behind a dark grill, are pencils, pen & brush--tools
of creative energies. A red & clear plastic cloud sparklingly brightens the
sky above, while a formation of brown rock (or is it a sea creature?)
anchors the base. This is one of my most intensely coloured works--dramatic
use of red, black & mirror. The title also pays homage to the musical
directions of Eric Satie, who advised his performers to play a certain
passage "with astonishment"--as I find I greet each dawn.
